Live it:
Our name is important to us. Our parents chose our name and that decision impacts us for the rest of our lives here on earth. Sometimes people get our names wrong, sometimes people use nicknames for us, and sometimes people use derogatory terms in place of our names. People do the same with God’s name. They may get it wrong or use it in vain, but it doesn’t change who God is. During this month’s Binge the Bible, we will discuss how we can get to know who God is by studying the names of God. By doing this, it is our goal that doing this will help us keep his name holy.
When Jesus taught the disciples to pray, he instructed them to keep God’s name holy. We have to know who we are praying to, but that’s not just a one-time action but an ongoing responsibility as Christians. We have to remember that we are praying to the same God who created us and who created this world. Over the next 20 days, we will examine some of the names of God. It won’t be an exhaustive list, but it will be a good start. This will enable us to see the beauty in each name and learn from each and every name of God.
