Day 12- Mighty God

Read it: Isaiah 9:6, Deuteronomy 10:17, Zephaniah 3:17

Live it:

We find that the third name that is recorded in Isaiah 9:6 is El Gibbor, which translates to Mighty God. The meaning of the Hebrew word “Gibbor” is strong or powerful. Many times throughout the Bible, the term mighty is used to describe kings or leaders in Israel’s history. Now, Isaiah is using that same word to describe the ultimate King: the King who would rule forever. Hebrews 1:8 says “but of the Son he says,’Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.’” The Mighty God we serve will always be on the throne forever and ever.

Not only will our Mighty God reign forever, but He is also mighty to save. We are to take heart because our Mighty God, our Messiah, came to seek and save the lost by defeating death. However, it doesn’t stop there. Our Mighty God will return and gather all His sheep to Him when it is time. As believers, this is the hope we hold on to that our Mighty God has already won. He will return, and He is preparing a place for us.

With these truths in mind, why do we doubt our Mighty God’s power? If God spoke and the world was created, why do we let our doubts say God can’t heal, God can’t forgive, or God can’t restore? We need to allow the truth of who our Mighty God is to overflow our thoughts. We need to be filled with full assurance that our Mighty God is able to do more than we can ever ask or think.
