Day 14 – David – Josh

Day 14 – David – Josh

Read It: Psalm 6 & 13

Live It:

I consider David one of the original emos (a person who is overly sensitive or emotional). Reading these Psalms, you can see the poor guy is really going through it. The rawness of his emotions is on full display.

David was not afraid to be brutally honest with God. In those moments, he pours his heart out before the King of Kings. How many of us can truly claim that level of honesty with our Creator? I know for myself there are times when I hold back. Times when I hide emotions or struggles.

Why are we like this? We serve an all-knowing God! He knows our inner workings; he sees us in the struggle. When we try to hide the despair, all we do is internalize that pain.

But do I have good news for you! We don’t stop at the struggle. David doesn’t stop at the struggle. Even with everything crashing down all around him, David keeps his reverence for the Lord. He ends both Psalms with a declaration! A declaration of who God is, who He always will be!

For those of us in hopelessness, be encouraged as you read these passages. Don’t be afraid to voice your pain before the Lord. Lean into the character of the Most High. He is the one who hears our weeping. He alone will answer our prayers!
