Read It: 1 Corinthians 12:8-10
Live It:
“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father” (John 114:12. NLT).
I read that verse and wonder where the fulfillment of this is. I wish I saw it in my life. Now, don’t get me wrong; I, in no way, think that I am Jesus the Christ and can do all the miracles He did. One website has Jesus committing thirty-nine different miracles from healing to resurrections. I can honestly say I have seen three true miracles in my lifetime (all being healings). Three vs thirty-nine does not seem to make that verse come true.
Theologians have done their best to give us excuses. One excuse is that miracles were only for the Apostolic Age and not for today. My heart breaks for that kind of thinking. Another excuse is that the person praying or the person needing the miracle does not have enough faith! My heart breaks for those, also, for they often destroy the fragile belief of each side.
The most balanced theologians recognize that this is a partnership with God. God chooses to do the miracle for His purposes, BUT, He also chooses to use us as partners for his glory. God will move, but not without us. God does whatever He wants, but with us not without us. We believe, but God acts on His own time. So, what are we to do?
First, we need to step out in faith knowing that God can heal, and we need to pray until we know God will heal. There is a little book by Charles Price called, The Real Faith. He is a 1950’s evangelist who saw many miracles. He said that the one who wants the miracle needs to seek God’s face until that one knows the miracle is God’s will. Granted, God does miracles without people’s faith, but he would prefer to cooperate with us.
So, let us pray like God has the answer available and is waiting for us to ask!
With Love,
Carl
