Day 14: The Outward Disciplines

Almost every bookstore has a section for self-help but no section for helping others. Yet, God wants us to serve others. Jesus reminds us in our reading today that “even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
We are not above Jesus, so now that we have focused on our internal disciplines, we have to work on the outward disciplines. Giving back is an important part of this. Give back through your relationships, give back to your community, give back to our church, and even give back to those who don’t deserve it.
Love others, but don’t try to be someone’s savior. Point them to the cross. Point them to our savior. That’s true discipleship.
