Day 15- The Shrewd Manager

In today’s parable, Jesus’ point is not to praise deceit but to highlight strategic generosity. If you’ve ever been to a Focus Church service where we took an offering, we typically like to highlight the ways people at Focus Church are generous.
At first glance, this may sound self-serving, but it’s not. I love how generous Focus Church is, and that is not meant to highlight ways the staff has given. No, we are highlighting ways our church members have given back. From donating water in the summer to signing up to pack meals at Feed My Starving Children to sacrificing time and energy to build a church in Honduras to remembering the birthdays of the children at Sunshine Acres Children’s Home and making them feel special, Focus Church is the most generous church I have been part of.
I haven’t even mentioned the way our church has been generous with its time and finances. Our church recognizes that possessions are temporary. One day, our financial accounts, homes, and treasures will be gone. But the love we’ve shared and the lives we’ve touched will remain. True shrewdness in God’s economy is not hoarding wealth but channeling it toward things that will last forever.
