Day 16

Read It: John 16

Live It:

You are a reflection of your three closest friends. The people whom we allow into our lives have such a strong influence, and I believe God understands that. That’s why we read scriptures such as John 16:7, which states “But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.”

In this world, we value friendships a lot, but we often forget about the one friendship that Jesus gave us: His Holy Spirit. Verse 8 says, “And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.”

Without the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we are as good as the waves of the ocean that are tossed back and forth. This world is already hard enough on its own, and there are many things that we need to learn.

Verses 12 and 13 say, “There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.”

The Holy Spirit should be our best friend and the counsel that we need daily. Let’s set apart a time in our daily lives to learn and hear from the Holy Spirit. Let’s allow Him to be the true influencer in our lives. There is so much that we have to learn, but praise God that God already accounted for that. Let’s learn from the One who knows the future and who holds the future in his hands.

As Christians, the guidance of the Holy Spirit is not a luxury but a necessity. Let’s learn to listen to His voice today. The Holy Spirit is the one friend your parents will always approve of!
