Day 17- The Persistent Widow

SPOILER ALERT: In this parable, Luke tells us in his introductory remarks why Jesus told this story. It was to encourage continual and tenacious prayer that does not give up easily or quickly.
The story revolves around two main characters: a judge who is characterized as unjust and a widow seeking justice. The judge ignored the requests of the widow for justice in a dispute with an enemy. She, however, persisted in seeking the justice she desired. Her persistence wore the judge down until he finally gave her what she wanted and deserved.
In relating this story, Jesus makes the point that if the unjust judge, who neither cared about men nor God, could finally be convinced to administer justice for this widow, how much more will God, who loves humanity and desires the very best for all of us, be moved by our petitions and will meet our needs?
Don’t stop praying. Don’t give up. God will meet your needs.
