Read it: Luke 7:1-10
Live it:
I like to consider myself somewhat of a history nerd. I love all the background that happened during biblical times.
A Roman centurion was not someone to be messed with. They typically commanded around 100 Roman soldiers. This was a man of authority and power!
Yet, what does he do in this passage? He comes with humility, with great faith. He is a powerful man submitting to the one who has complete power and authority over all things! It is a beautiful contrast to what we might expect.
Humility is never an easy choice, but our stories are radically transformed when we choose to take that step.
We often talk about hearing the words “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” How about these words from verse 9: “I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel.”
I want to be known for having great faith! Faith that is grounded in humility. Even if some of us don’t command Roman warriors.
