Read It: James 5:16
Live it:
Life inevitably brings “momentum busters”-unexpected events that knock us off balance and stop us in our tracks. Our initial response is often to withdraw, isolate, and try to figure out a solution on our own. This is especially true when the problem stems from a struggle we’ve kept hidden, leading to shame that makes us reluctant to share. We choose to go it alone rather than confessing our shortcomings to a trusted friend who would offer prayer and support through life’s toughest moments.
What we truly need is a momentum builder established before the crisis hits. If you’ve been a part of Focus Church for a while, you understand the critical importance of a “Wolfpack”-a trusted group of people committed to doing life with you through both good times and bad. These vital Wolfpack connections are formed in various settings: through Focus Groups (our small home groups), during Training Days (medium-sized groups), and while volunteering in a service area of the church.
If you are low on momentum, pray and keep showing up, especially when you don’t feel like it. If you need a Wolfpack, look around you for opportunities to be involved and make connections, more than just saying hello on Sunday mornings. God wants you connected to people you can trust and who will continually point you toward him.
The big question is whom do you trust to pray for you today? If no one immediately comes to mind, then ask God to show you who that person is and get connected.
