Read it: Isaiah 56:7, Matthew 21:13, Luke 19:46
Live it:
The temple in Jerusalem was a house of prayer and the most sacred place in Israel. Jesus was righteous in His indignation when He forcefully cleared the temple grounds of merchants and money changers. His confrontation exposed, once again, the greed and corruption of religious leaders who were more interested in serving themselves than in serving God. By removing these obstacles from the temple, Jesus reopened the path to prayer and worship for God’s people. He immediately began teaching and healing, restoring the temple to its true purpose.
As Christians in today’s world, we too can place obstacles in our own lives and stumbling blocks in the paths of those around us. When we recognize this, we must pray and surrender anything that’s keeping us from closeness with God. Sometimes, the weight of life can feel overwhelming, and in those moments, we need others to pray with us.
I’m so thankful that Focus Church is a house of prayer. Whether it’s in person on Sunday mornings or through an online request, there are people here who care and are willing to pray with or for you at any time.
