Read it: Acts 9:1-19
Live it:
How does one know if God is calling him to full-time ministry? Saul, whose name Saul changed to Paul, is one example of how God calls, but he didn’t call him in the normal manner. Look at the uniqueness of his call: 1) Special revelation from God; 2) a call to a specific group of people; 3) instant call; and 4) physical ramification or evidence. Why did God use this manner? Because he was to go through so many physical and emotional trials that he must know God’s call.
Usually, God helps you know if he is calling you to full-time ministry. 1) You have an ability or talent that He gave you. 2) Opportunities come that give you the opportunity to use that talent. 3) The church recognizes the gifts and abilities and opens doors for you to work. 4) You have a willingness to do and then you do. Most people follow this path, and God blesses.
However, many say or believe that they aren’t sure if they are called. If that is you, here is a path: 1) Ask God and read His word. He will speak to you. 2) Do what is right in front of you. 3) Pastor Buechner says your purpose is where the world’s great need, your passion, and your ability all intersect. 4) Do everything until you find the “thing” that gives you pure joy. That is God’s design for your life.
