On day one of this Binge the Bible, I asked this simple question of you, Will you accept the opportunity to show people the Fruit of the Spirit today?
How did you do? I just asked you to do it one day, but what kind of impact could you have on the world, if you took that opportunity everyday? There are people in my life that I have prayed this prayer for: That they would come to Christ. I tried to show them all aspects of the fruit, however, none of them live near me and proximity breeds intimacy.
I want them to meet someone who is living out the Fruit of the Spirit, someone that lives near them, someone that can spend time with them, someone who can help enable that prayer to come true. However, I can’t focus on the fact that it hasn’t happened yet, I can continue to pray that it happens! I also know that it might not occur while I’m still on this earth. Me being here doesn’t make it any less impactful for the individual I am praying for.
Our reading in Luke reminds us that there is more joy in heaven when one lost sinner repents and returns to the Lord than ninety-nine others who never strayed away! Maybe there’s someone you will meet this week and they need someone in their life who is living out the Fruit of the Spirit. Maybe someone has been praying for that person for a lifetime and you are the answer to their prayers. You’re not going to get a thank you from the person who has been praying, they might not ever know about the impact you made. So it’s not going to do anything for you, but it’s going to do everything for the sinner who is repenting and returning to the Lord.
Look for that person this week and be that person for them!
