Day 3- Jacob (Hurting family to Reconciliation)

Read it: Gen 25:29-34, Gen 27:1-40. Gen 33:1-17

Live it:

One of the worst feelings a human being can feel on this earth is being hurt or deceived by a family member. We are taught that family is the closest thing to us, that family is our safe place, but what happens when our family hurts us or abandons us? There are two ways to respond to this hurt:  stay angry or forgive.

For me the hardest thing in life was to forgive my father who left me at the age of one week. I always felt it was impossible to forgive him! But the Lord softened my heart and showed me that forgiving him would bring me freedom. It will bless my future family. So I did. I chose to forgive him.

In today’s reading, we see how Jacob deceived his brother, and how his brother was hurt by him. It’s a sad story, but it has a wonderful outcome because there was reconciliation. These brothers chose to reconcile. You might think to yourself that your story doesn’t have any possible reconciliation. But when we walk in the spirit and allow God to teach us how to forgive, it is possible to find reconciliation!
