Day 7- Feel Different: What does the Bible say about emotions?

Read it: Ephesians 4:26-27  Psalm 4:4

Live it:

Emotions can feel so strong in the moment. We use terms like blinded by anger, overcome by sadness, drunk with joy to explain the overwhelming feelings our emotions can give us.

Yes! Our emotions are God-given. They are present for a reason and important to feel. BUT these scriptures in Ephesians 4 and Psalm 4 are telling us to be careful to not be overwhelmed with the emotions. To sit with them, to feel them, but to put them in their place. Remind them that you are in control and not your emotions.

Control your emotions, or let your emotions control you.

Now this is way easier to read than to put into practice. If we feel a feeling, there is often a strong urge to do something about it. Tell that person how you really feel, take your ball and go home, cut that relationship from your life, fix the problem that is causing it.

But the truth is we alway have a choice. We should strive, as Christ followers, to live by our choices, not the very first feeling our emotions tell us to do.

We live different.
