Live it:
Are you making rest a priority? This has personally been one of my struggles. Growing up, I remember always trying to keep busy. Rest was not an option in my household. When my parents entered a room, we had better be doing something meaningful. They worked hard and expected all of their kids to do the same.
It’s still hard for me to rest when someone in authority in my life enters the room. I still find myself scrambling to look busy. But then I remember, God is my ultimate authority, and he gives me permission to rest. The examples in today’s verses remind me to rest and be quiet – despite added stress. We live in a world that is constantly on; sitting in silence enables us to turn the world off and be silent in God’s presence.
I want to encourage you as you work to improve your spiritual momentum. Remember, this is a process. You should always seek to constantly improve yourself, your relationships with others, and your connection to God. It becomes easier the more you are consistent in it.
