Read it: Mark 3:31-35,1 John 3:1-2, Galatians 3:28, Romans 12:10,
Live it: The first scripture in this collection we are studying today is the direct teaching of Jesus. The following three scriptures are the followers of Jesus putting the teaching into action. In Mark 3 when Jesus’s Mother and brothers arrive, he is interrupted. His response is not to dismiss the importance of his blood family but to include all who are following his teachings as a NEW and important part of his family. 1 John goes on to confirm that we are a part of the family of Go;, in fact, we are children of God. Galatians confirms that all people, no matter their background or upbringing, can join the family. Romans further encourages us to not only welcome our new family members but to honor them as well.
As you read through these scriptures, allow the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart about any place you are not living in unity with the family of God. Are you only attending church and not being open and vulnerable with your family? Are you unified with the mission God has given us as a church? Are you honoring the people around you- consistent in building up and not tearing down? Are you allowing the church to become your family?
If you find any areas you may need to grow in, take a minute to pray through a plan to allow the church to become a true family, you included, as God intended it.
