I was having dinner recently, and I heard a young adult refer to someone as being fly. I hadn’t heard that term since the 90’s. I felt a smile come across my face.
Is it just me, or is American culture becoming more embedded in nostalgia? I personally find myself nostalgic for the 1980’s, which is when I was a kid. Things seemed simpler in the 1980’s, and for me, that was because we didn’t have 24/7 digital connectivity.
For me, increased connectivity led to increased complications. In our reading today, the blind man was asked to describe his miraculous healing. The man described it in a simple way: “I was blind, and now I can see.” That seems to be too simple an explanation for the Pharisees, and we see it in their response.
Are you looking for a complicated answer to your problem? Could your solution be a simple need to turn your burden over to the care and control of God? What are you waiting for? As we said in the 80’s: “Just do it.”
