On September 17–18, Pastor Darren and his WolfPack will take on two demanding days in the Grand Tetons — 45 miles and climbing to over 11,000 ft of elevation — to help raise $1 million for the Focus Church building fund and a care point in Honduras.
Why He’s Walking
The original plan was the Grand Canyon.
On September 17–18, two friends and I were preparing to hike Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim — roughly 45 miles across the Grand Canyon and back in two days.
Then circumstances outside our control changed the plan. A flash flood at the Grand Canyon made it necessary for us to pivot from the original plan.
Plans change, but the mission stays the same.
Instead of crossing the Grand Canyon, we’re heading into the Grand Tetons for two demanding days in the mountains — roughly 45 miles, thousands of feet of climbing, high elevation, and some of the most challenging terrain we’ve taken on together.
And in a way, the change fits the heart of this campaign perfectly.
Reaching $1 million won’t happen exactly the way we imagine either. There will be obstacles. Plans will change. Unexpected challenges will come. But you don’t reach a goal this big by quitting when the path changes.

$1 For Every 100 steps
If Pastor Darren completes the full hike, he’ll take around 100,000 steps. At $10 per 1,000 steps, that’s a $1,000 sponsorship for someone taking on the full challenge and it’s the same math that gets our whole church to $1 million together.
