April 9 – Day 8: The Resurrection of Jesus

Read it- John 19-20

Live it- The greatest victory in the history of the world. The greatest outcome anyone could ever imagine. The resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our Savior.

But our reading doesn’t start out victorious. Today’s reading starts from a place of torture, a place of anguish. Being flogged with a lead-tipped whip. Enough to make anyone want to throw in the towel and give up. But Jesus wasn’t living for the moment, Jesus was living for a purpose.

Hebrews 12:2 NLT – …Because of the joy awaiting him, He endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now, He is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

His purpose, His joy, was our salvation.

Today, we celebrate the victory of Jesus. But also be encouraged with this thought: So many victories are never fulfilled because we have our sight set on the moment instead of our ultimate purpose. Endure the pain of a moment to receive your future victory.
