Day 1- Introduction

Day 1- Introduction
Read it: Luke 8:10
Live it:

Parables are simple but often vivid stories or analogies. Jesus used them to share spiritual, moral, or theological truths. Our reading today tells us just what that means for us:  Parables are not just stories; they contain deep spiritual truths about God’s reign and rule.

They are not just stories for the people who lived during Jesus’ time on earth, but they are for us as well! During the summer, we took time to utilize the S.O.A.P. method while we were reading through the Psalms. It may be helpful to continue to do that as you read these parables. S.O.A.P. stands for “Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer.”

You read a passage, write down a key verse (Scripture), reflect on what it means (Observation), consider how it applies to your life (Application), and then respond to God in prayer (Prayer).

What do you want day 22 to look like for you after going through this month’s Binge the Bible? Do you want to read the Word and then live out the lessons Jesus is teaching us?

As you begin this month’s Binge the Bible, I encourage you to pray that your heart is softened and you are willing to listen to what God wants to tell you, and I also encourage you to do that each day as we spend time examining these parables.
