Read it: Hebrews 10:23-25
Live it: Wow! I was privileged to write the opening and closing devotions for this month’s Binge the Bible. Hasn’t this been a wonderful and enlightening journey through the New Testament concerning the church? In the opening reading we learned that the church is not the creation of man, but it is Christ’s invention. It belongs to Him, and He protects it from the ravages of Satan, our mortal enemy.
We close with a passage from the book of Hebrews. Hebrews is such a motivational book. It is full of encouragement. This passage is no exception. Part of the power of the church is resident in its communal nature.
This passage encourages us to cling to the hope we affirm (eternal life through Christ). That hope is sure because God can be trusted to keep his promises. We are therefore to encourage one another to do good works. How do we do that? By coming together as the church and doing it with greater faithfulness and fervency as we see the signs of Jesus’ return.
I need the church. You need the church. We all need the church.
