John is the last of the 4 Gospels to be written. It’s highly likely that John was aware of the 3 other biographies that have been written. Each of the Gospels emphasizes a different origin of Jesus.
Matthew’s audience was to the Jewish people, so he highlights the ancestry from Abraham through David, demonstrating that he truly is the promised Messiah.
Mark’s Gospel is fast paced and full of action. He highlights that Jesus was from Nazareth, showing Jesus as a servant.
Luke’s Gospel shows that Jesus came from Adam, proving that he is the perfect man.
John shows that Jesus is not only fully man but also fully God. Jesus is not just from an earthly city with an earthly heritage. Jesus is eternal, showing he is God!
“In the beginning…” the perfect way to start our journey towards Easter Sunday.
