Day 2

Read It: John 2

Live It:

I have found myself playing chess a little more than I used to. The more I play the more I discover this truth: every move matters. As insignificant a move might be, it could possibly be the move that wins the game.

In the Bible we read accounts of events that encourage, strengthen, challenge, and discipline us. John chapter 2 is a perfect example of two stories that are filled with God’s knowledge, and it is easy to see God’s power being displayed in such a marvelous way. What strikes me in John chapter 2 is verse 11 and verse 22. Verse 11 says:

“This miraculous sign at Cana in Galilee was the first time Jesus revealed his glory. And his disciples believed in him.”

Verse 22 says:

“After he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered he had said this, and they believed both the Scriptures and what Jesus had said.”

In the New Testament, we see the majesty of our Lord being displayed. We also see a story being developed in the background: Jesus training His disciples to be like Him. As His disciples, we are to train the same way his disciples trained.

The people who we have in our lives, the situations we encounter every day, the highs and the lows, and everything in between, are all situations to train us to be like Jesus. Let’s not underestimate the opportunity we have to train to be like Jesus. God has placed us at Focus for a purpose greater than we think. You are a child of the living God, and He is developing your story. Let’s learn to embrace it and grow with the rest of the community of believers. Just like in the game of chess, God makes every move count.
