Day 10: Job and His Wife

Read it: Job 2:1-10

Live it:

Job is a great example of how to live a life faithful to God; his wife is not. When she loses everything, she becomes angry and really lashes out. In that moment, Job has a choice to let his wife’s misery have some company or (as Pastor Darren says) to call her out – to call her up. Job, in the midst of the worst days of his life, still sees the goodness of God and is able to help what is left of his family to be reminded of that.

I’m certain that wasn’t easy. She had lost everything, just as he had, and was in pain. But Job knew the truth and wasn’t going to let it go. We don’t ever learn her name or if/when she came around, but we do know Job was blessed with more children.

Maybe you find yourself in the midst of your worst days, even leading a family who tells you your faith is a joke. Maybe you feel like you can’t take one more thing going wrong this season. However, you always have a choice in how you respond. How you respond to God and how you respond to your family are within your control.

And possibly, like Job, your greatest days are ahead.
