Day 19: The Christmas Story

Read It:
Luke 2:1-20,
Micah 5:2

Live It:

Sometimes, God’s plan doesn’t make sense. Well, it doesn’t make sense to us.

Let me tell you, I’ve experienced being 9 months pregnant, and I could barely catch my breath after a good joke. I am certain that God’s plan didn’t make sense for heavy-with-child Mary having to return to Joseph’s home town. The timing of this census seemed nearly impossible.

But God. God had a perfect plan for our savior to be born in a most un-remarkable way to obedient parents in the humble town of Bethlehem. The timing seemed impossible. Why would God plan it this way? Because of this imperfect timing for the pregnant Mama, the prophecy of the Messiah was fulfilled. Micah 5:2 foretold the birth of the Messiah in Bethlehem.

God knew all the intimate details of how Jesus would be born, just like he knows all of the intimate details of your life.

Maybe this season doesn’t make sense in real time, but let this passage be a reminder that God’s way is perfect, and you can trust him. His path always leads us home and into his perfect plan.
