Play along with this scenario.
You have received an invitation to attend a birthday party at someone’s home. You have RSVP’d. You have bought the perfect gift. You picked out wrapping paper that is the favorite color of the birthday girl. You found the exact card that will make everyone laugh and then say, “Awe.”
The day of the party arrives. You’re dressed to impress. You’re leaving at just the right time. You won’t be early, but you won’t be the last to arrive. Everything seems in perfect order for a great evening. You walk up to the door, ring the door bell, and wait for your greeting. But then something happens. You are waiting longer than expected. You are waiting, and waiting, and waiting. Soon you ring the doorbell again; then, you knock on the door. But no one answers.
What was supposed to be a great party ended in complete disappointment—all because nobody was home.
Jesus is calling us home. He has sent his invitation, he has given you directions, and he is always home, ready to welcome you with open arms.
Matthew 7:7-8 NLT
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”
The resurrection of Jesus is our proof that his invitation will always be answered. He is simply waiting for you to knock on his door.
