Day 20 – Jesus
Read It: Matthew 26:36-38, Hebrews 12:2
Live It:
We know that Jesus was fully God and fully man. The scriptures in Matthew show us the human side of Jesus. He experienced sorrow and anguish to the point of death, for he knew the pain and suffering that lay ahead of him.
In one breath Jesus asked the Father if this cup of suffering and shame could pass from him and in the next, he submitted his will to God. He knew the plan, and he knew walking through the events of that Friday was the only way for his believers to be reconciled to God. And that was the joy that Hebrews 12:2 was referring to.
Jesus finished the work he was sent here to do, and the impact of that is still being felt today. Are you filled with joy and hope today? Ask the Lord to help you see beyond your current suffering and struggles and to fill you with hope and the joy of spending eternity with Jesus!
