Day 4: Ephesians 4:17-5:21
I have discovered the joy of working out. There are endorphins that come from pushing yourself farther than you thought you could, lifting that weight you never thought possible. Even doing more burpees than you think God designed you to do makes you feel like you can conquer the world. Since beginning this journey, I have discovered the importance of a good pair of training shoes. I started out using shoes that had been worn down and no longer supported me. I knew the best thing for my body was to throw them away and invest in new ones before the old ones could do damage!
Today’s reading finds Paul encouraging the Ephesians to get rid of their old walking shoes. Paul is encouraging them to live their lives in a manner different from their Gentile neighbors. He tells them to throw off your old sinful nature and former way of life. Take off and throw out those old shoes! Instead, he tells them, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Time to put on the new shoes!
