Day 5: Ephesians 5:22-6:9
At first glance this passage can be difficult to internalize. We see words like “submit, love, obey, serve,” and we can get a little riled up. Our current culture pushes against these ideas. In all honesty, we can be influenced by our culture and push against these ideas as well.
When someone hears the word “submit,” they might think, “I don’t need to submit. I’m a strong individual with strong thoughts.”
When someone hears the word “obey,” they might think, “Why would I obey anyone else? All authority is out to get me.”
But as you read this passage, notice how many times it uses Christ as our example. When Christ is our example, we can begin to understand this spiritual truth on a level that our current culture will never understand. Christ, not our current culture, is our ultimate example.
