Focus314 Church

Day 4

Read It: Psalm 119:110

Live It:

“Well, you weren’t living for the Lord at that time.”

I was having a conversation with a great couple at Focus Church. We started to discuss the military, and Marine Corps Basic Training. We were mentioning being a Christ follower and attending chapel services, and one of them said, “Well, you weren’t living for the Lord at that time.”

I have been very open about serving myself during my time in the Marine Corps. But I didn’t go into the Marine Corps with the ill intent of not serving God. I simply fell into the trap of self-gratification.

Instead of entering the Marine Corps with a John 7:38-39 (Rivers of Living Water) type of faith, my faith was stagnant. I wasn’t reading my Bible on a daily basis. I wasn’t serving in my church. I wasn’t making God the number 1 priority in my life. My faith was completely stagnant.

My stagnant faith allowed me to fall into the trap of wickedness, the trap of self-gratification, the trap of sin. I wasn’t on guard. I wasn’t dedicated. I wasn’t following the commands that I believed in.

Don’t fall into the same trap that I once did. Stay dedicated to the commands that you believe in.

If you have become stagnant in your faith, there is good news. You can make that change today. Ask God to forgive you for not making him your greatest priority. And rededicate yourself to following the commands that you believe in.
