The story of Jesus healing a lame man has an impact on me every time I read it. Jesus knew this man had been sick for 38 years, and he asked him a strange question: “Would you like to get well?”
Maybe he asked him this question because this man’s sickness had become his identity. That can certainly happen to us; a struggle we are facing can become a part of our identity, and it can become our tomb, the limiting factor for our life. But, this man did not stay in his tomb because he told Jesus, “I need help.” Jesus healed him instantly!
I don’t know if you are struggling with something today as you read this, but if you are, I want to ask you the same thing: Do you want to get well? If you do, ask for help. One way to do that is to submit a prayer request; you can do that .
