Day 4

Read It: John 4

Live It:

Jesus’s journey from Judea to Galilee took him through Samaria, a route Jews typically avoided due to their disdain for Samaritans’ “mixed bloodlines” (they were half Jewish) and worship practices.

Despite the societal barriers of race and position, Jesus chose this route. Weary from travel, he rested at a well and simply asked a Samaritan woman who came to draw water for a drink. In that moment, he disregarded the barriers of race, gender, lifestyle, and position by treating her with respect and care.

This was a pivotal moment for her—a day to realize God knew her name and loved her. Jesus, through his power, offered the living waters of forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life to a woman deeply entrenched in sin. Her transformation was immediate and profound; she accepted his offer and ran into town, excitedly telling everyone she had met the long-awaited Messiah and urging them to come meet him, too. Because of her testimony, many in her town were saved.

Today, we see many of the same barriers in our culture, and the answer to overcoming them is still Jesus. He instructed his disciples, “Wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest” (John 4:35 NLT). Transformation can happen when the gospel is shared through your personal testimony.

Who needs to hear your testimony today?
