Day 5: Knowledge

Read It: 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Matthew 12:36

Live It:

Words matter! All words matter! With that being said, the gift of knowledge is not a gift that should be taken lightly. When the Holy Spirit imparts a supernatural truth for us to share with another, we should stop, pray, and allow the Holy Spirit to confirm what we heard. The word that we feel is from the Lord should 1) agree with scripture 2) help another person 3) be tested and discerned that it is truly a word from the Lord. Before giving any word from the Lord, the person giving the word needs to be sure that they clearly heard the Lord speak. There should be humility that comes with giving a word of knowledge.

The Bible makes it very clear that we are to take account of our words and that the words we say matter. A word from the Lord is NOT 1) a feeling 2) an action 3) a thought that is “best” for a person. However, the biggest factor is if the word does NOT align with scripture, then it is 100% not a word from the Lord.

When a person is on the receiving end of a word from the Lord, they now have the responsibility to discern that the word that was spoken is truly from the Lord. Have you ever had a friend, an acquaintance, or even a stranger come up to you and say, “I have a word from the Lord for you.” Then, they proceed to tell you something totally wild and out of left field. It may be something that may or may not even align with the Bible. Instead of questioning what you know and your faith, pray about it, seek biblical counsel from someone you trust, and allow the Lord to either confirm the word if it was truly from him.
