Day 6

Day 6: Ephesians 6:10-24

Reading this gives me the confidence I need to face anything. I didn’t always have this confidence. When I was in high school, I was on the wrestling team. I was a starter on the varsity team- not because I had any skill but because I was the only one on the team who weighed 95 lbs, which means I became a starter because they had no one else.

Whenever we competed against other teams, they often did not have anyone at 95 lbs, so I won my first few matches by just showing up. I became overconfident, feeling like I didn’t need to prepare. This was until I had to actually face opponents. During our next four competitions, I actually had to wrestle, and I lost every single one of them and quit.

We have access to the armor of God, not a bathrobe and slippers, but a full armor of God. We have to use it because we face battles everyday, and we need to be prepared. The best way to do that is to fill our minds with the truth, the truth found in the Bible. Jesus said when we know the truth, it will set us free. The only possible way to do that is to be in the Word every day. This scripture tells us that the Word is an essential part of the armor of God. Reading it will help us face our battles.

When you face your battles, are you in a bathrobe and slippers and using a dull, dusty sword, or are you in the full armor of God with your sword sharpened and ready?
