Read it : Romans 5:12-21
Live it : This section may seem short, but I’d encourage you to read it over a few times for today’s reading because it is short, but it is mighty!
It powerfully points out the parallel between one man making one choice and another man making a different choice.
Adam chose to sin and caused everyone after him to be born into sin. Adam made one choice: the wrong choice… “But Adam, who got us into this, also points ahead to the One who will get us out of it.” Romans 5:14 (MSG)
Jesus also made one choice: the best choice! “Here it is in a nutshell: Just as one person did it wrong and got us in all this trouble with sin and death, another person did it right and got us out of it. But more than just getting us out of trouble, He got us into life” Romans 5:18-19a (MSG)
Paul, the author of Romans, is showing the parallel between two different men making one choice that changed life on earth. He goes on to share that although it is really impossible for us to live a sinless life, Jesus’ sacrifice allows grace to win.
“… sin didn’t and doesn’t have a chance in competition with the aggressive forgiveness we call grace. When it’s sin versus grace, grace wins hands down. Romans 5:20 (MSG)
Because of Jesus’ incredible choice we can live life without fear of death. We may stumble, but He will always make a way for us! A mighty passage indeed!
