Day 8: Simplicity

Simplicity is a word that’s meaning changes depending on who you talk to. I don’t know about you but I often think about “A Little House on the Prairie” style life when I think about simplicity. The truth is that simplicity is more than just what we have. It is a heart posture and a daily choice.
Today’s passage is Paul writing to Timothy about simplicity with regards to greed. How do we ensure that money does not become an idol in our lives when we are surrounded by a world that worships it?
Godliness with contentment is the answer (vs 6). We serve the Lord. We find joy and peace with where we are.
That joy and peace can take time to cultivate. It is not easy to live a life that reflects simplicity. It takes a conscious choice to be set apart from the world and its priorities.
As you read the scriptures, ask God to highlight what simplicity looks like in your life. How can I better reflect the contentment that only God can bring?
