Over the next 21 days, we will be doing something different for Binge the Bible. What started as one 21-day reading plan to start the year has turned into a movement of pursuing God. As a church we believe in fulfilling the dangerous mission of Jesus: To be liberal with our love, and conservative in our theology. But, how can we be conservative in our theology if we don’t have a foundation of understanding why we believe what we believe?
The theologian Martin Luther is someone who took the time to do this using the book of Romans to spark the Protestant Reformation through his “95 Theses.”
A concept that Martin Luther developed is known as the five solas. Over the next 20 days we will be looking at what we can learn from his life and from his five solas.
We are still being shaped by the way Jesus lived over two thousand years ago. His environment was much different than ours and Martin Luther King’s environment was also different– even though it was only 583 years ago. Tomorrow, we will learn about that environment, what a sola is, and what we can hope to learn over the next 20 days of Binge the Bible.
