Day 1 – Naomi

Day 1 – Naomi
Read It: Ruth 1:20-21

Live It:
Have you ever felt swallowed up by tragedy and suffering? Everything in your life that represented success and stability is suddenly stripped away, and you wonder why God has left you.

That is exactly where we find Naomi in today’s scripture. She is bitter, so bitter she changes her name. After 10 years away, she arrives back in her hometown as a widow with two dead sons, no money, and accompanied only by a gentile daughter-in-law named Ruth. Prospects for them didn’t look good.

But God is about to take the broken pieces of Naomi’s life and more than restore all she has lost through Ruth. Ruth meets Boaz, who marries her and redeems Naomi’s family. They have a son Obed and through his lineage comes King David and Jesus, our Lord and Savior, the redeemer of all humanity,

This beautiful story of love and redemption reminds us that God is always at work in our lives, even when circumstances seem hopeless and we feel helpless. Behind the scenes, he is there to make everything work together for our good. Perhaps, like Naomi, the work he is doing in our lives extends beyond our lifetime to positively impact generations in the future.

Does your perspective on what God is doing in your life need to change from bitterness about current circumstances to trusting that future blessings are on the way?
