Read it: Revelation 19:7-9, 21:2
Live it:
In Revelation 19: 7-9, the symbolism of a wedding feast represents Christ coming to claim his bride, which is the church. That’s us! This wedding feast of the Lamb occurs after the rapture of the church and before Christ’s second coming.
Since there is no marriage as we know it in heaven (Matthew 22:30), we will be united with Christ for eternity. We have prepared for this moment by making him both Lord and Savior of our lives. What a celebration that will be!
Revelation 21 is a beautiful picture of God’s promises fulfilled. The old heaven and earth pass away and a new Jerusalem comes down from heaven. All things are made new. Imagine that. Perfection everyday in every way in everything. God is once again living among us, just like he did in the beginning with Adam and Eve. And all this goes on for eternity.
What can we learn from these passages about marriage and relationships today?
- We need to keep our promises to God and each other.
- There is a price to be paid to have relationships with others. Are we willing to submit to the Holy Spirit’s promptings in relationships, even when it’s awkward or uncomfortable?
- Am I preparing for the wedding feast of the Lamb by the way I am living my life today? Checking my actions against the fruits of the spirit in Galatians 5:22-23 daily is one way to identify areas needing improvement.
Our decisions on how we live our lives impacts our relationships both now and for eternity. We have a glorious future awaiting us so make every choice count!
