In the course of time after the promise and David’s musings about the promise, David found himself at war with Moab, later Zobah, then the Arameans, and even Edom. These had been enemies of Israel for centuries. David was giving victory over them.
Through these victories, God was proving himself to David. These great victories were the result of David’s response to the Covenant that God had made with him in 2 Samuel 7:16.
Many years ago, a song we commonly sang in church was “Count Your Blessings.” The song contains an encouragement to “count your many blessings, name them one by one.” List the blessings God has given you.
