Day 16- Spend Different: How do I thrive?

Read it: Matthew 6:21 & Ecclesiastes 3:13 & Ecclesiastes 5:18-20 & 1 Timothy 6:17-19

Live it:

When I got my first job, it came with the responsibility of spending my money wisely.

I was earning my own money, so I didn’t want to hear anything from anyone. But very shortly I realized that I was buying stuff that I didn’t need. I got into debt a few weeks after getting my first job. How could that be possible when the whole reason for a job is to have money to pay for stuff?

In ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭21‬ Jesus tells us that ”Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.“

When we value materialistic things more than what God has for us, we make materialistic stuff our treasure. We will always chase the next thing that sounds good! But that often leads to a life with financial difficulties. And that can steal our joy.

When we make heavenly things our treasure, like honoring God and building God’s kingdom, our desires for those materialistic things will fade away. God wants us to have nice things, but he doesn’t want us to be slaves to them.

Spend differently today!
