Read it: Matthew 5:13-16, John 13:35, Galatians 5:22-23
Live it:
We are more than five months through 2025. How are you doing with your one word for the year? My one word for the year is savor, which for me meant that I want to enjoy each moment as it comes.
I’ve been trying to live it out every day, but it’s not easy. It’s been easy to enjoy the good moments and savor those moments, but it’s not easy to savor the moments when I’m in physical pain, the times when those I love make choices that break my heart, and when the world burns in the figurative and literal sense.
What has helped me is to track and document the fruit of the Holy Spirit in my life as described in Galatians 5:22-23 (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control). Specifically, this year I have been trying to find out when is it easiest for me to have patience and when is it not? I have tried to do the same with everything else on that list. I do this through journaling, and it has had a major positive impact on my life. If this is not an area of strength for you, I have some good news. You will have an opportunity to practice journaling starting next month with Binge the Bible (more details will be coming next month).
