Day 18: A Place to Belong

Read it: Ephesians 2:19-22, 1 Peter 2:9-10

Live it:

Recently, I had the privilege to help build a beautiful home for a young family. At the end of construction, we gathered around with our muddy boots and tired hands to hear a word and dedicate the house. The word was about the gospel of hospitality and how deep down, we are all searching for home. The home that is only found in our Creator and Maker.

As humans, we crave a place to belong. We change our personality, likes, and dislikes, even our actions in hopes of fitting in. But no matter how hard we try, there is still that hollowness. True belonging is found only in Christ.

The first passage states that we are no longer strangers.

We are citizens with all of God’s holy people! The true church is a place of complete belonging. Our God, who sees us for all of our flaws and brokenness, invites us in anyway!

We need not worry about fitting in, for He has created us to fill a puzzle piece in the Kingdom. A piece that only you can fill with your gifts, talents, and passions!

Our home is filled with His wonderful light. We have a permanent spot at the table. We have a place to dwell for all of eternity.

Welcome Home,
Josh
