Day 18: The Bride and Bridegroom

Read it:  2 Corinthians 11:2-4

Live it:

Often we view relationships as complicated and difficult. Depending on what stage of life you find yourself in, the concept of marriage can be difficult to understand.

When we read the scripture verses that talk about “the bride and bridegroom,” in reference to our relationship with Christ, it sometimes has a weird tone to it.

I realize that when I tend to view a spiritual principle as weird, I need to allow the Holy Spirit to teach me in the moment. My view is corrupted because my understanding was corrupted. This is exactly what Paul says in today’s scriptures when he says “But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Marriage is an amazing thing. Being married to my wife allows me to glimpse into a love that Jesus has for us–as his bride. I understand that my love for my wife is a representation of how Christ loves us. Jesus loves us so much that at first the concept of marriage may sound weird, but when you look at what marriage is, it reveals a much deeper understanding of our relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.

In return, it also allows us as the bride to be ready for Christ when He returns.
