Read it: Ephesians 4:25 & 4:29 & Matthew 15:10-20
Live it:
The closer we are to Jesus, the more we understand how we should live. Not in a judgmental way but in a grace-filled way. We understand that we should act and speak differently. But I do understand that this is something that may be hard for some believers.
Before Jesus was my Lord and Savior, I was using all kinds of nasty lies and foul language to communicate. At one point, I thought that was something to be admired. I thought using all that foul language would make me feel more confident, but in reality it was a lack of confidence. Over time (like every sinful thing) I would begin losing the respect and trust of those around me.
Jesus makes it very clear in Matthew 15:18 NLT that “the words you speak come from the heart—that’s what defiles you.“
If the words we speak come from our heart, the other question is what do you store in your heart?
You want to speak differently? Store the Word of God in your heart.
”I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.“
Psalms 119:11 NLT
Fill your heart with God’s Word. Fill yourself with God’s promises. Let your words point people to Jesus.
