In the Torah (the first five books of the Bible), God makes this requirement of His people: “Be holy, for I am holy.” You ask how can that even be possible. In fact, it is not possible for you or me to be holy in the sense of being sinless. It is, however, not impossible for us to be holy. We are made holy in exactly the same way as we talked about being made righteous in yesterday’s devotional.
Holiness is not something reserved for sainthood. Regular people like all of us are made holy through the holiness and righteousness of Christ. Faith in Jesus Christ raises us to the status of holiness. That is how God sees us because God sees us through the blood of Jesus Christ which cleanses us from sin.
