Read it: John 4:4-26
Live it:
In John 4 Jesus initiates a conversation with a very unlikely character – a Samaritan woman who had five husbands. Her gender made her inferior at the time, her race labeled her one to be avoided, and her lifestyle choices marked her as damaged goods.
But Jesus ignored all of those things because his concern wasn’t for appearances; it was for people. All people. Hurting people. Searching people. People who made bad choices. And that is all of us, right?
We fall into the trap of what the world offers – money, success, possessions. But what Jesus offers, and what he offered the Samaritan woman, is so much better! He offers us peace, joy, love, and a relationship that is fulfilling beyond what the world can provide.
And the best part, it doesn’t matter our race, gender, or background. He approaches us in our thirst and provides just what we need – a savior.
