Day 20

Read it: Deuteronomy 31:8Luke 15:11-32

Live it:

Everyone has things that they want to accomplish in the future. For me these plans would be very hard to give up because they aren’t just for me but for my family as well. Today, we read the story of the prodigal son. He gave up the future that was in store for him by asking for his inheritance early and then wasting it. However, the part of the story I want to highlight is when he comes back. His father runs to meet him right where he is. Instead of getting what he wanted or expected, he was welcomed back with open arms. I think we need to be more grateful for all the times that after we mess up, God welcomes us back and says to us, “I am so glad that you are here.”

Do it:

Think about the future plans that you are grateful for, the ones that were taken away. Now, visualize your future plans being given back to you as a gift of something you will be able to do. How grateful are you for the gift of those future plans? Will you do anything differently now?
