Day 21

Day 21: Celebration

Read it: Psalms 100:1-5, Psalm 149:1-3

Live it

In our American culture we get excited when our favorite sports teams win a game and spend days celebrating when they win a national championship. We wear the team colors, jump up and down, dance in the streets, shout until we are hoarse and generally make fools of ourselves to celebrate our team and let others know our team won.

You know where I’m going with this. If we are going to make fools of ourselves, let us make ourselves fools for Christ’s sake. (1 Corinthians 4:10)

Today’s scriptures challenge us to worship the Lord the way we celebrate our favorite sports team, with shouts of joy and gladness. When we come together as his church our gratitude, joy and praise for the God who created us, saved us, and sustains us should naturally overflow from our hearts in an overwhelming way.

The strength of corporate worship lies in the strength of individual worship. Each of us must ask ourselves if we are bringing our best. If not, what do I need to change? The answer to this question is vitally important because our individual decision impacts the whole.
